星巴克云南简介:

云南农艺支持中心是星巴克在亚洲设立的第一个咖啡种植者支持中心。除该中心外,星巴克在哥斯达黎加、卢旺达、哥伦比亚以及坦桑尼亚建有农艺支持中心。星巴克的农艺学家将直接与云南的咖啡种植农进行现场合作,为他们提供咖啡种植方面的培训以及技术支持,一起开发和使用更加环保的种植方式来提高咖啡豆的质量,增加高品质咖啡豆的产量。星巴克的专家还将开展对适合当地种植的新品种咖啡豆、作物抗病能力和改善风味等方面的研究。

JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION


This job contributes to Starbucks success by identifying best field and agronomy practices and developing and managing programs in the local origin country that support sustainable high-quality coffee production and ensure the continuing availability of supply to meet business needs. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.



SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


  • Promote awareness and benefits of CAFé Practices; and assist supply chain partners in achieving their goals of sustainably grown coffees, including CAFé Practices.


  • Develops agronomy programs for coffee growers consistent with local and regional customs that support sustainable crop production and a continuing supply of coffee meeting company standards. Works with farmers to manage and improve crop production and soils, make efficient use of natural resources including water conservation, develop and use weed controls and plant regulators, and maintain environmental quality. Disseminates best field practices in plant and soil management from farmer to farmer.


  • Develops and maintains relationships with preferred suppliers. Communicates Starbucks quality standards for green coffee and assists farmers in meeting standards and becoming preferred suppliers.


  • Studies factors that influence growth of crops and researches local practices in growing, pruning, milling and fertilizing, in support of appropriate program development.


  • Works with millers throughout the origin country to encourage improvement in milling practices.


  • Gathers information on market trends, production methods, suppliers, quality, etc., and contributes to the Company’s proprietary data warehouse of green coffee business intelligence.


  • Communicates local best practices back to agronomy team for dissemination throughout countries in the region.







SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE


·
3 years progressive experience in agronomy

·
1 year coffee industry, including arabica coffee origin experience and arabica quality management


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


·
Knowledge of Starbucks coffee and related products

·
Advanced knowledge of plant and soil sciences

·
Knowledge of current best practices in crop production and farm management

·
Foreign language proficiency


EDUCATION


·
Bachelor or higher degree in agriculture, business, or related field.



JOB COMPETENCIES


·
Including but not limited to the following activities:

o
Relate to and communicate with all sectors of the production value chain.

o
Advise and assist coffee producers to work towards an improved and sustainable quality of life through improved yields and quality of coffee.

o
Advise and assist strategic partners in achieving their goals.

o
Advise and assist govt agencies as necessary

o
Travel within Yunnan as well as regionally / internationally as may be necessary and reasonable.

o
Provide weekly summary activity reports, and any other reports as may be required.

o
Develop and implement training curriculae and materials as may be required to achieve desired goals.

o
“Do the necessary to achieve the goals of the FSC [Farmer Support Center]”.

o
As with any new organization, these tasks may be amended at any time to fit the needs and goals of the FSC.

o
Report to FSC office on a weekly basis, or as requested.



LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

Shows initiative and leadership in adapting and implementing new ideas and methods to achieve desired goals.
